Yoko started dancing at age of five in Tokyo, Japan. At the age of 16, she trained
at Elmhurst Ballet School, U.K, training in Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Flamenco. During her time at Elmhurst, she won a scholarship to study at the Hungarian Ballet Academy in Budapest, Hungary where she studied the Russian Vaganova method. After graduating, she joined Ballet Ireland Company, Dublin. Yoko would frequently return home to Tokyo and teach at her local Ballet school and choreograph for their annual performances. She was also invited as a guest artist to perform in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2003, she moved to Hong Kong and started teaching at Jean M Wong School of Ballet. She gained her RAD Advanced 2 examination with distinction and later, her RAD CBTS teaching certificate and Associate certification. For the past 15 years, Yoko has been teaching the RAD syllabus classes from Pri-Primary to Advance 2 and has successfully achieved high results for her students. She has choreographed for school annual productions, Chinese New Year annual parades, TVB, Miss Hong Kong, and Eason Chan's concerts. She joined Red Shoe Dance Company in 2020 and teaches RAD Ballet, Advanced Ballet free work and the Pre-Professional Ballet Program. |
