Jacqui began her training in the UK at Margaret Watson Dance Centre, Hull. At the age of 11, she was accepted into White Lodge, The Royal Ballet School and then continued her training at The Hammond School, Chester, studying Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary Dance. At aged 16, she completed one year of the Teacher Training Course at The Royal Ballet Upper School.
Jacqui's passion for art and design led her to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where she completed a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. During this time, Jacqui continued to dance at Pineapple Dance Studios (London, UK) taking regular classes in Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop Dance.
In 2002, she moved to Hong Kong and began teaching RAD Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap Dance and became a registered teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (London) in 2004. Realising the lack of modern and contemporary dance tuition for children in Hong Kong, she founded Red Shoe Dance Company in 2005, with a mission to address the gap and heighten the profile of dance as an evolving and diverse art form. She introduced Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop courses to the after school programs at ESF and International schools, making dance more accessible to both boys and girls.
Jacqui opened her first studio in Central in 2010, and a year later, opened her second studio in Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen. The school has now become a centre of excellence, providing students with quality training and support for a successful career in the dance industry.
