Jacqui Roberts - Founder/Director
Jacqui began her training in the UK at Margaret Watson Dance Centre, Hull. At the age of 11, she was accepted to White Lodge, The Royal Ballet School and then continued her training at The Hammond School, Chester, studying RAD Ballet, Modern Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary Dance.
At aged 16, she studied at The Royal Ballet Upper School, taking the Teacher Training Course.
Jacqui's passion for art and design lead her to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where she completed a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design. During this time, Jacqui became a regular visitor to Pineapple Dance Studios (London, UK) taking regular classes in Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop Dance.
In 2002, she moved to Hong Kong and began teaching RAD Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap Dance and became a registered teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (London) in 2004.
Realizing the lack of modern and contemporary dance for children in Hong Kong, she founded Red Shoe Dance Company in 2005 with a mission to address this gap and to heighten the profile and acceptability of dance as an evolving and diverse art form. She introduced Modern and Jazz Dance courses to the after school programs at ESF and International schools as a way of making dance more accessible.
Due to growing popularity and an increasing demand for Classical Ballet, Jacqui opened her first studio in Central, and a year later, opened her second studio in Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen.
The school has now become a centre of excellence, providing students with quality training and support for a successful career in the dance industry.
